WGI Percussion Recap 2012

Hey tumblr folks. Thought you might be interested in a WGI Percussion recap podcast that I recorded for the Marching Roundtable.

I was asked, along with my friend Paul, to give some thoughts on the trends and favorites for 2012 in indoor drumline.  This was my first year not taking my world group to Dayton, so I got to do lots of watching and taking notes.
(to listen click here, or search ‘marching roundtable’ on itunes.)

Discussed:

-Late-season promotions
-RCC’s tenor line
-Rhythm X’s finals lot warmup with lights
-Dubstep
-South Hills vs. Victor J. Andrew
-Knee-spins
-Woodbridge’s stunning performance
-“Put a light on it”
-Realizing I may not have been the best indoor drill writer
-Christmas decorations and their neighborhood dynamics
Many other things…

Not discussed:

-Starting a campaign to eradicate the indoor mohawk
-Every exposed snare roll ending with a shot is a bad trend
-MCM’s roped off parking lot
-Drunk dudes in the finals lot wearing their drumline jackets (tsk tsk)
-Too much kissing/acting on the floor
-Pulse’s Electric Wheelchair/Ditty/Double Beat show seg
-RX’s percussion dude’s double duty as a parking lot usher
-Headquarters
Many other things…

You can find some of my other ‘appearances’ on the podcast, including the conversation with Mike McIntosh (where it is impossible to keep up with how smart he is) if you dig around.

I’ll mostly keep reblogging and finding fresh drum content on here, but hope you don’t mind some occasional posts with information, links, and randomness.  Let me know if there’s something I missed, or if you just want to talk more drums!
